5 things I have learnt since becoming a mother

I remember last year on mothers day, I think I was about 6 months pregnant and Hubby said to me "This time next year it will be your first mothers day" and with a blink of an eye it's already here! A mother to a beautiful cheeky 8 month old.

Motherhood has been the biggest experience of my life, I have had the biggest highs, joys, tremendous amount of love and laughter, but it also comes with the a lot challenges and constant life adjustments.

Before I become a mum I really didn't comprehend how challenging motherhood was, all the mothers (superwomen) out there make it look so easy.  This is why mothers are the cornerstone of a household, we really do it all.

Here are 5 things I have learnt since becoming a mother:

1. Having a baby is a different kind of love.  I love my husband, siblings and parents, but the immense love you feel for your child is like no other! When their in pain your in pain, you can sit there and stare at them all day long and do anything to make them happy.

2.  Newborns take a lot of time and energy, but now Ava is older we have gotten into a routine.
In fact I have found having a baby makes me plan my time even better than I did before.  I have become more productive because I know any time Ava is a sleep or with her dad I need to use that time effectively, whether it be writing a blog post or doing chores.

3. Having a baby has made me even more motivated to achieve all the goals I have set for myself to ensure Ava has a great childhood.  Of course I was motivated before having a baby but sometimes self doubt would run riot in my mind.  Having a baby is always a constant reminder and big motivator that squashes any self doubt I had before, I'm not only doing it for myself but now I'm doing it for her too.

4. Since having a baby I feel more confident and care less about what people think.  I don't know if it's the liberation you feel after painfully pushing a baby out half naked in a room full of strangers! But if that's what it took for me to give less f&$ks I'm loving the new me!

I would love to hear how having a baby has impacted your life for the better? Happy mothers day to my yummy mummies out there!
